I often see errors that are egregious in articles and stories and there is no way to have then corrected, that I can find.
For example a recent story on potential vampires contained this:
[see attached]
Despite the fact that the story was about zombies not bears make it a highly-visible error.
Grizzly is a bear, grisly is “horrific, or gruesome”; a much more appropriate term for this story.
A common, frequently misused word is “further” [to greater extent or degree] with the correct word often being “farther” [to a greater distance].
Osage
If you ever notice a mistake on a specific page, at the very bottom there’ll be a “Contact Us” link. It leads here, which you can also just keep and fill out manually: https://www.atlasobscura.com/contact_form
The many times I’ve seen errors in the Stories, I’ll report them there. I get responses around half the time, and there’s no real rhyme or reason as to when. Some come back after a few days, others months.
Sometimes, even after the team says a typo, etc. has been corrected, it actually hasn’t. To summarize: their editorial processes could definitely do with improvements, there ARE ways to provide feedback to that team directly; and finally, there’s a fair chance that the provided feedback won’t be taken on board.
Based on my personal experience, that’s where the Stories stand at currently.
Thank you!
Hi @Michael_hedrick_48045750 thanks for writing on our feedback board. This board is more for suggestions for our digital products such as website features and the mobile app.
As @linkogecko mentioned, the contact form is the best way to get in touch with the editorial team and report feedback on a sepcific story.
